The public is made aware of the modification of NASA's Mission Statement. From 2002 until 2006, NASA’s mission statement was "to understand and protect our home planet; to explore the universe and search for life; to inspire the next generation of explorers ... as only NASA can." Dr. James Hansen, NASA climatologist, said the change might reflect White House eagerness to shift the spotlight away from global warming. |
