Kate Peyton, 39, an Africa producer for the British Broacasting Corporation, is shot by a militiaman outside the Sahafi Hotel in the capital city of Mogadishu. Peyton dies at the hospital of internal bleeding. Somalia has lacked a central government since warlords deposed Dictator Mohamed Siad Barre in 1991. |
