Attorney Tom Wilner, who represents 11 Kuwaitis detained at the Guantanamo Bay, contends they his clients were unjustly imprisoned after repeated abuse by U.S. troops in Afghanistan and Pakistan. The torture included beatings with chains, electric shock and sodomy and led to confessions to avoid continued abuse. Most prisoners contend that the physical abuse ended upon arrival at Gitmo, but that mental torture ensued. Many of 545 Gitmo prisoners have been held for over three years without charge and with little to no access to reading material or information about the outside world. About 150 have been released. |
