Chechen men and women wearing explosive belts seize a secondary school in Beslan, North Ossetia in southern Russia and hold 150 hostages, including children. Up to 50 children were able to flee during the move, according to reports. The 17 fighters are demanding authorities release people arrested as suspects after Chechen rebels raided the neighboring republic of Ingushetia in June. |
