U.S. Homeland Security Secretary Tom Ridge raises the terrorism threat level to orange, or high, for the financial services sector of New York City, northern New Jersey and Washington, DC. In his comments, Ridge cited "new and unusually specific information about where al Qaeda would like to attack" including the use of car and truck bombs to "attempt physical destruction of these facilities."
