The U.S. launches the first satellite of its Landsat Program, Landsat 1 into a near-polar orbit. It served to obtained information on agricultural and forestry resources, geology and mineral resources, hydrology and water resources, geography, cartography, environmental pollution, oceanography and marine resources. |
